Loving Lisa

October! What does it mean to most of us?? For me it has started out as a cold, wet and dreary month, But yet, I still have a lingering hope that the sun will peek out and smile on me. For the first and second day of October, we have had rain. But the forecast for this week, there is that hope that the sun will shine and bring us some warmth. And then again who will know what the next week will be like.

I am hoping for a beautiful Sunday morning this coming week. We will be attending the “Fight Like A Girl” American Cancer Society’s Annual 5K Walk. It is a walk of courage and hope for our dear Lisa to honor her spirit as a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister and Friend.

Our Loving Lisa, a young mother of four young girls, had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in August of 2003 during her 6th month of her pregnancy with her younger daughter Tyler. She endured a mastectomy and chemotherapy during her last months of her pregnancy. After the delivery of Tyler she had 30 more rounds of radiation. We thought we had won the fight, all was well until October 2009. Lisa was laid off of her job, lost her life insurance and health insurance for her family. She had felt well, but noticed that she was losing her voice, in August 2010 she went to the doctor and was told that the cancer was now in her throat, brain, lungs and bladder. Not only is she fighting cancer, she is fighting it with no health or life insurance and no gainful employment.
Loving Lisa Fundraiser Info

This October the 10th I will be there watching her strength, love for her family and friends as she walks to help fight cancer for herself and many others.

To me October also means LOVE, STRENGTH, SURVIVAL, HOPE AND FAITH. The love is for my husband who will celebrate his birthday this month, my father will also celebrate his birthday this month. And my loving mother who would have been 70 years old this month if she would have won her fight with breast cancer. It took her away at a young age of 53. Mom I will always miss you. I hope that I have the STRENGTH, that my mother had to fight and live her life with HOPE AND FAITH and LOVE for all her family and friends.

And now for SURVIVAL. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Please help in any way that you can to help us fight cancer. WEAR PINK, THINK PINK. Moonlighting Creations has put up a pair of vintage pink teardrop crystal earrings on aged antiqued patina kidney shaped ear wires. Some proceeds will be given to Loving Lisa.

Now in my etsy shop!

This necklace was created from various mix media materials (large 3 inch ornate vintage skeleton key, vintage rhinestone brooch and a vintage gold filled praying hands medal) that hang as charms from a 24 inch brass chain. This piece was inspired by the victorian and steampunk movement era which has a very unique mix of old-world and new-world style. This piece would make a great addition to any collection or a great unique signature piece. If you like what you see, please add me to your favorites!

available in my etsy shop

I have been getting very creative and wish I had the space and time to make more wonderful pieces. When I work I tend to spread out quite abit. I was never one that would draw up a design and then make it. I sit for hours and place the beads in different spot till I think I have the right combination.

I have been working on charm bracelets lately. The colors and texture are really fantastic. Here is a peek of “The Gardens of Versailles”.

You will feel like french royalty in this spectacular charm bracelet fashioned from the beautiful gardens of Versailles!

This charm bracelet has the opulence of the era of Marie Antoinette. You can now find it in my etsy shop.

Heart

What a dreary morning. The sunshine has decided to play hide and seek this morning! And it is doing a great job of hiding. Last night we had heavy fog and then it was still here this morning! The only good thing that could come out of the fog this morning is if Damon from The Vampire Diaries decided to show up! (for all you vampire diaries fans, you know what I mean). I got up this morning ready to start working on some new pieces but just can’t get motivated. Maybe after the sun gets tired of its game and can be found, so can my creativity. In the meantime, here are some new pieces I put up on my etsy shop!

The Time Traveler

timetravelers

I saw the Time Traveler Wife last night. The movie was a sweet, yet sad movie about love that endures, despite the fact that the husband under extreme duress, disappears at inordinately and frequent times. Now some may say this is a perfect marriage (me included! LOL)

Could you just imagine the ability to travel to any point in the past or future. Time travel has not been proven to be impossible or possible. But, in some way, we are all time travelers. Time is constantly traveling around us. We have a past, a present and a future. Everything that we do quickly moves into the past.

To help us re-live our travels, I have just listed on my etsy shop, a Time Travelers Charm Bracelet made from lampwork beads, sterling silver, swarvoski crystal, a key charm, a brass heart locket a fluer de lis, and a clock face! You can continue to add charms to the bracelet that you have gathered from your past, and still enjoy them in your future!

“Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

This bracelet was inspired from my visit to Nawlins, this past July. You can find it posted in my etsy shop!

“Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

The term “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” is a Cajun expression meaning “Let the good times roll!” And boy do they! We had a wonderful trip to New Orleans in July. My sister and I decided that we would do a roadtrip to The Big Easy. It had been a couple of years since I had been down there, and she needed to take her girls down to visit and stay with their memaw for a couple of weeks! And we would stay and visit with our dad who has a home down there. My other sister decided she would fly instead of driving for 16 hours in a van with 3 adults, (4 counting her) 2 children and a dog! And we can’t forget about our luggage and the girls toys also! Where is her spontaneity, I ask! She just laughed at that question. She missed the first sleepless night, cause the dog slept all the way down there, and decided to stay awake all night barking at every little noise she heard at the dog friendly hotel we stayed at the first night on our road travels. She missed having to stay in 1 hotel room with 3 adults (4 counting her) 2 children and a dog! She missed all the fun! Anyway we arrived in New Orleans on the second day, First Stop, Daiquiri Shop! This continued for 2 weeks! Second stop Dads! We enjoyed Cafe Du Monde beignets, for all of those who don’t know what they are…heaven with a little of powder sugar on top! We enjoyed Pat O’Brien Hurricanes, the scenery, the food, the city but most of all the company!
